Plot
In 14th-century Europe, King Stefan and Queen Leah celebrate the birth of their daughter Princess Aurora. Three good fairies—Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather—bestow gifts of beauty and song upon her. The evil fairy Maleficent, uninvited and offended, curses Aurora to die by pricking her finger on a spinning wheel before her sixteenth birthday. Merryweather alters the curse to a deep sleep broken only by true love's kiss. To protect Aurora, the fairies raise her in hiding as Briar Rose. On her birthday, she meets Prince Phillip, they fall in love, but Maleficent tricks her into the curse. Phillip battles Maleficent, who transforms into a dragon, and awakens Aurora with a kiss, uniting the kingdoms in a happy ending.
