Plot
In 1961 Montana, retired sheriff George Blackledge and his wife Margaret grieve the accidental death of their son James. Three years later, their widowed daughter-in-law Lorna remarries into the dangerous Weboy family and relocates with their young grandson Jimmy. After witnessing abuse, Margaret convinces George to track them down across state lines to the Dakotas.
